80/20 IT
The Pareto principle is that 80% of consequences come from 20% of causes. I like to figure out what moves the needle and how to get the most juice out of the squeeze. Everyone’s time is valuable, and the extra time spent sweating the details might not actually have an outsized impact.
MANAGE WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS + HIGH PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY
It’s important for my teams to operate with a growth mindset. The best way to do that is to hold them to high standards, but to also give them the safety that you are on their side and there to help support them. When we hit failure (and we should be, otherwise we’re playing it too safe), it’s an opportunity to investigate and improve. Why didn’t this work? What could we have done better? What assumptions did we make that were incorrect? What processes need to be fixed?
